Stress Colitis in Dogs

What is stress colitis in dogs?

It is a common health condition in dogs, especially those suffering from anxiety or chronic stress. Stress causes changes in a dog's digestive system, leading to uncomfortable symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, gas, and abdominal pain.

Causes of stress colitis:

Changes in routine: Moving to a new home, the arrival of a new baby, or a change in meal or exercise schedule.

Anxiety and stress: Fear of loud noises, thunderstorms, veterinary visits, or even separation from the owner.

Food allergies: A food intolerant to a dog may cause an allergic reaction that affects the digestive system.

Other conditions: Certain other health conditions can contribute to worsening symptoms of stress colitis.
